I like to look for rainbows...

I love the sun. In fact, I would say I worship summer. Winter is just not my season, but summer is a girl's best friend (next to nail polish and mascara, of course).

I know Utah has been soaked in these last few weeks due to massive amounts of water cascading from the skies, but I have loved every minute of it. I love the rain, especially really good thunderstorms.

Before you call me crazy, let me explain. I grew up in New Jersey and you could always tell when a storm was coming because the level of humidity would spike (and the sky would get all dark). But my favorite part of the coming storm was the smell that crept in. You could just smell the rain on the wind. I used to go outside to our front porch to my chair and just watch the storm and the downpour.

Now, Utah doesn't have the humidity that home has but the dark clouds seem to crawl across the sky slower and more resentful. Once they decide which unsuspecting city to hit, they let loose their vengeance and start the torrential downpour. The thing I look forward to in some of these really wild and loud thunderstorms is the smell. It is just so clean and rainy smelling, it is wonderful!

After three weeks of rain every day, and a wonderful thunderstorm practically every night, you learn to appreciate quite a bit about wet weather. Not only are we having spectacular sunsets, but we've been able to see a rainbow over the mountains after a good portion of the storms that have hit. They have been beautiful, one such being this past Friday night. Allison & Lori noticed it first and we all gathered at the back door to see this beautiful creation of Heavenly Father's. And we were blessed with not only one, but two full rainbows making those perfect arches in the sky.

But now it's growing warmer and I'm happy to say that summer has showed up, halfway through its own season. But while it's here, I'll enjoy every minute that I'm not trapped inside an office building. (It's a good thing I no longer have the window by my desk to distract me.) So here's a great big welcome to summer!
